Daddy vs. Mommy

We all know it happens right?  Dads and Moms have some different "rules" different things they allow, etc.  Case in point, see Holden's eye?  Now I am NOT saying it would never happen on MY watch, but, well anyway we should probably get to the story!

A couple of days ago I left the house, for some alone time grocery shopping,  and when I came home Holden was on the couch with an ice pack.  You see we had been sick, Tom and I, and Holden was, we thought, recovering.  SO dad took them to the park, seemed harmless enough.  But Daniel wanted to ride in the single jogging stroller.  No problem, right?  Well then Holden wanted to ride on THE FRONT of said stroller, something mom does NOT allow!

So anyways they went to the park and had a great time...It was the ride home where the trouble started, again Daniel was in the stroller and Holden was ON THE FRONT of the stroller, Daddy thought he would have some fun, and would be a little crazy.  Our cautious, sort of, older son though Daddy was going to fast.  So he yelled, "STOP!" as he reached down and tried to stop the front tire with his hand, which then threw him off the stroller and face hit the ROAD!

Honestly SO many worse things could have happened, I mean he TRIED TO STOP THE TIRE WITH HIS HAND!  And I am really not afraid of bumps and bruises, also it's NOT LIKE I HAVE NEVER BEEN THERE WHEN THEY HAVE GOTTEN HURT!  But this was his worst injury to date.

Really this post is not a daddy VS. mommy post more like "the difference between daddies and mommies"...I don't know I tend to have more rules, less fun probably...oh well:-)  I am sure in a few weeks there will be another post like this only the injury is sure to happen on MY watch!

Such is life with BOYS!

It's healing up nicely, and doesn't seem to bother him too much after the initial OUCH!  AND he is getting A LOT of attention!  SO I think it's ok...although he did get sick again, and he looked at me and said, "Mommy I've had a ROUGH week!"  Yes you have little man!

365 | Week 8

02.19 The Traveling Bucket

Today, I became victim #2 of the "plague of 2012" and to think I thought Tom had food poisoning! Ugh! This bucket moved from his side to my side:( I hope it's over quickly!

02.20 Sick Bay

Who knew that the "plague of 2012" and bunk beds DON'T mix? After the first incident Holden was relegated to the floor of the extra room, and at his request daddy, who was feeling the best of the parents joined him. Thank goodness for Tom, my stomach was in NO shape to be a help...I could barely move:( I LOVE that we are a team, not a one man show, that he will help with the sickies, and the middle of the nights! I LOVE him!

02.21 Poor Guy!

The "plague of 2012" victim #3, this is what he looked like most of the day! "I know how you feel buddy..." I hope it ends soon and Daniel stays strong as the sole survivor!

02.22 It Has Begun

Just a glimpse as SKY begins to take over our lives:-) I LOVE VBS! Can't wait!

02.23 OUCH!

I ran an errand Tom went to the park with the boys, when I returned I saw this boy with an ice pack on the couch! Of course tomorrow when he returns to school not only will he be able to talk about the "plague of 2012" BUT he will look like THIS! Good thing it's share day!

02.24 Dinner In!

This week has been rough! We knew we couldn't have our scheduled date night, well at least not a night out, SO we ordered in:-) A local Meat & Fish market offers a full meal for two for $30, you just take it home and bake it:-) It was yummy and we had leftovers:-) A perfect end to a not so perfect week!

02.25 Adrianne!!!

We all agree Holden looks a little like Rocky! or like he was in quite the fight! This morning he looked at me and said, "Mom, this has been a ROUGH week!" No kidding!

365 | Week 7

02.12 LegoLand

Today we all went to Legoland! Daniel was a bit to small, but LOVED every ride he could go on! Holden had a GREAT time! He was sad to leave! They loved the star wars set up in mini land, and basically everything else! A fun day! Thanks to grandma and grandpa, and the SD family!

02.13 SICK!

Fever, congestion, a few days worth:( Hoping it ends soon!

02.14 HOME?

Terminal B looks SO different now, the boys were excited to ride on the "train" again, I was just glad to be home to my sweetie:-)

02.15 noskateboards

LOVE this sign Holden made:-) Even with the misspellings:-) He is reading SO well I am SO proud of him!

02.16 Smiles Come Easy

Sometimes, when we drove into the parking lot, Daniel saw these carts and insisted on "driving" one...Who and I to deny him:-)? Things you said you would never do:-)

02.17 DATE NIGHT!

We FINALLY got to the Chef's Table. The menu was interesting, not good for the diet or heart, but good flavors...not totally what we were expecting, but again good. Would have been better if the "plague of 2012" had not claimed it's first victim (Tom) during the dinner:(

02.18 Entertaining the troops

Daddy is sick, so its me and the boys, good thing this guy thinks I'm the best thing since sliced bread:-)

02.05 Daddy is HOME!

The boys ARE SO excited to have daddy home! They have been a little out of sorts since his arrival but I think that is to be expected!

02.06 ReUNITED!!

He is back where he belongs! Tonight we got the AMAZING gift of being able to go out ALONE and debrief a little from his time away, and my time here at home. It was good, I will never regret him going on this trip no matter how hard it was! God showed him some awesome stuff while he was away, and in true God fashion, He did amazing things here too! Good Stuff!

02.07 PIZZA!

When Tom got in the car after picking him up from the India trip, he commented about how he had seen an ad for pizza and it looked SO good:-) Well we had burgers the first night, pizza the next two nights! Welcome back home! :-)

02.08 MUTEMATH!

Tonight Tom and I went with some friends to see the MUTEMATH show! It was awesome! They are GREAT performers! I LOVE that this is something we LOVE to do together:-)

02.09 and WE are OFF!

Yep we are CRAZY! Our daddy just returned and off we go to the desert! Off to visit my parents, grandparents, and my brother's family! It's bound to be a whirlwind trip, but as always I am sure it will be great

02.10 CUTE BOYS!

Today we spent with my grandparents, the boys GREAT grandparents, Holden colored at their house, and Daniel ran around in his crazy fashion:-) You will notice they are in their swimsuits, that's right it is warm enough to go swimming! AND it doesn't hurt that the pool is heated:-)

02.11 YUP!

This pretty much sums up the day:-) We got up, went to the street faire, then to Panera, then headed to San Diego to visit my brother's family. The boys were SO excited! As soon as we got there the boys disappeared and the craziness ensued! This pic was taken at the end of the night, sheer exhaustion and delirium had set in!

On His Own!

Holden is in Kindergarten, learning to read and write.  Today I walked into the playground and saw this sign he had posted!  It says, "No Skateboards allowed!"  LOVE it!  He was probably bossing Daniel around, AND Daniel was probably playing with this, thanks to the SD Family!

01.29 FaceTime!

Yesterday morning we got to Face Time with daddy, and tonight the so.cal. cousins! SO fun to see people when you talk them! Super sweet to see Daddy:-) We miss him!

01.30 Goodbye :(

Today we said goodbye to Grandma and Grandpa, it was a sad day. Shortly after they left both kiddos were sacked out! They had a lot of fun but are definitely worn out!

01.31 Dinner with Friends!

Tonight we went over to our sweet friends house for dinner! I have really been feeling the love of our community in Tom's absence, what a special community we have! So thankful for them!

02.01 Good Morning Daddy!

The boys wanted to send Daddy a good morning hug this morning:-) We settled for a picture:-) So glad we are getting so close to having him home!

02.02 Our Day

Our Days are filled with kisses, parks playdates, oh and muscles:-) Mostly just all kinds of antics, Life is fun with BOYS:-) And THE BEST PART of today was listening to my 5 year old READ HIMSELF his bible! Yes reading it himself with almost no help from me:-):-):-)

02.03 Happy Birthday Tante Beth!

Poor Beth her birthday falls on the same week as the big HomeShow that their company Verde Creations participates in every year, so celebration is ALWAYS delayed. Tonight we celebrated in style with everyone except Tom, Holden and Makenna made an art piece for Beth out of recycled paraphernalia from grandpere's garage! Aside from the metal files, everything in the piece was allowed to remain:-) LOVE the recycled artistry!

02.04 My new Adventure

Well not totally new, but since my last attempt failed I decided to try again, this time with a little education. SO today a friend and I took a composting class throughout the city and I came home with this recycled compost bin, let's hope for some great compost for our sad sad soil here!

1000 gifts | January

So awhile back I started reading this blog, and then when I got my Kindle for Christmas this was the first book I purchased!  I had been waiting as I am trying not to buy paper copies of books anymore!  SO in reading the book, I thought I would gift it a try, this 1000 gifts list, a list of thanksgiving of Eucharisto, as she talks about in this book.  And I started out, I have failed at doing it daily, I have one journal, she talks about having many, to catch where the thanksgiving hits.  I try to have mine accessible, but I am still learning this life of thanksgiving.  I can see the slight shift in my thoughts, the desire to go to thanksgiving when fear or worry hit, so I am praying this sticks, that in doing I will want to do more (giving thanks that is).

So I publish my list here, for noone but myself.  But maybe just maybe, you will start your own list, start seeing God and His gifts in the everyday, in the mundane, and in the HARD.  AND I would encourage everyone to read the book!

If you need help with your list you can find January's Joy Dare here, and February's here.
